Upload the App Folder via SFTP

Verify that you have been granted SFTP access. If you are a SuperAdmin, you can do this yourself. If you are an Editor, ask a SuperAdmin for SFTP access.

Open FileZilla (free) or your FTP program of choice to upload the app.R to brightRserver. In this example, FileZilla is shown.

  1. Go to FileSite Manager.

  2. Click New Site button on bottom left of dialog to add a new site (not displayed in screenshot)

  1. Modify the following:

    • Protocol: SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol
    • Host: your unique brightRserver address, such as secure.athena.brightRserver.com
    • Port: 2022 (this is not the default SFTP port)
    • Logon Type: Normal
    • User: the email address you use to login to brightRserver
    • Password: your password for brightRserver
    • Advanced tab → specify two default directories
      • A Default Local Directory where you originally created your web app folder (in this case Desktop)
      • A Default Remote Directory at /yakdata where you will transfer your web app folder
  2. Click Connect.

  3. Since this is the first time connecting to your brightRserver, an Unknown host key dialog will pop up. Check the box that states, “Always trust this host, add this key to the cache.”

  4. The directories on the left are on your local computer. The directories on the right are on the remote site, which is your brightRserver.

  5. On the right side (Remote), double-click the webapps folder and FileZilla will navigate to this directory.

  6. Right-click on the webapps folder, select Create directory, type the word “test”, and click OK.

  7. You should see the new directory test. Double-click on it to enter it. To verify that you are in the correct place, the Remote site dialog should show the current directory as /yakdata/webapps/test .

  8. On the left side, right-click on the Simple_Test directory and select Upload. You will see it appear on the right side after transfer is complete, as shown.

  • Notice the transfer status near the bottom of the screen. Click the Failed Transfers tab. There should be nothing there. Click the Successful Transfers tab. The Simple_Test app should be there.
